Freedom From The System

The independent individualist does not look to others to determine how to live his life. It will, however, always be interesting to individualists to see how others have found freedom in their life, and to learn from their examples, not how to find their own freedom, but the kind of effort and courage that is required to be truly free, and to be inspired by those who have achieved their own freedom.

Jules Dervaes is an example of someone who made himself free. He calls his WEB site “Path To Freedom, Urban Homestead.“Here is a short clip about Jules and his family:

Jules’s lifestyle is free, but it is certainly not for everyone. It is not the details of how one lives their life that determines whether it is free or not, but whether the individual knows they can do whatever they choose with their life, and can live it without dependence on any other individuals. I think many would find Jules’ life style confining and limited, but freedom is being free do to whatever one chooses, and for those, like Jules, who choose it, their life is certainly free.

Here are two interviews, one with Jules, and one with his youngest daughter, Jordanne. If you watch the second interview with Jordanne, you’ll discover their freedom is hard work, which is the secret of freedom. Living is working, it is producing that which is required for one’s life and one’s enjoyment of it. Freedom, then is freedom to do whatever kind of work one chooses in the way they choose to do it, but it will always be work, or it is not worth having.
